Roy Norville is a certified Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR, SHRM-SCP) with 30 years of human resources and safety management experience. His background includes a wide range of hands-on HR/HS practices including Health & Safety, worker’s compensation, recruitment and staffing, training and development, compensation, employee and labor relations. He has worked in a variety of industries including manufacturing, scientific research (FFRDC), commercial construction, distribution and non-profit environments. Roy graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences and is OSHA 30 trained. He is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management. Roy is the HR/HS Manager for PACTIV in (formerly Reynolds/Alcoa) Grottoes, VA and owns Strategic HR Solutions, LLC an HR and Group Benefits consulting service, cyawhr@gmail.com.

Sasha King—Vice President and Training Coordinator

Sasha King is the director of the safety department at Design Electric, Inc of Charlottesville, Virginia and has been with DEI for 6 years. She is experienced in coordinating the many administrative and hands-on aspects required of an effective safety department. Sasha currently manages her company’s risk management, injury prevention, and return-to-work program. She has developed multiple written safety procedures and policies, often being a helpful resource for other contractors. She also supervises her company’s extensive safety training program, which includes creating training material and implementing more effective means of training.

Sasha is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. She is also a certified OSHA 500 trainer for OSHA construction safety courses (10 hour and 30 hour).  Additionally, she is a trainer in First Aid CPR AED, aerial lift operation, confined space, trenches and excavations, fall protection, MSHA, GMM, lock-out tag-out, silica awareness, and other safety and health topics.

She is a graduate of the University of Virginia and resides in Charlottesville with her husband.

Travis has tried matters across several industries and various subject matters, including employment litigation, business disputes and matters prosecuted by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). He uses unique or outside-the-box approaches to counsel employers and owners on all aspects of employment law and the development of preventive policies and procedures to avoid employment and workplace safety-related claims. Travis handles litigation in both federal and state courts as well as claims pending with state and federal agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), MSHA, OSHA, and the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL).

He has represented clients in numerous matters pending in either state or federal courts in Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia and West Virginia. Travis has also assisted clients in OSHA/MSHA matters pending in Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Travis has emerged as a thought leader in the field of workplace safety. His writing and interviews are followed closely by experts in the safety arena and have been featured in premiere publications such as EHS Today, Business Insurance, and The Wall Street Journal.

Graduate of Eastern Mennonite University with a BS degree in Accounting and a minor in Business Administration. Gary was employed with Maphis Chapman Corp. for eight years as an Administrative Assistant to the President and later as Accounting Manager. Retired from Wetsel, Inc. after thirty years of service where he was controller and later Secretary and Treasurer of the company. Responsibilities included managing the accounting and credit departments, preparing monthly financial statements, managing year-end independent financial audits, supervising HR functions, commercial insurance coverage, and administration of Employee Benefits. Gary have also served as Church of the Brethren Congregational Treasurer, Moderator, member of the Shenandoah District Church of the Brethren Board and Investment Advisory Committee.

 

John Sutton – BRSA Board Member

NIBCO of Virginia, Inc.

Since 2008 John has been the Compliance (EHS) Manager at NIBCO of Virginia, Inc.  Prior to that, John was the Environmental Engineer at AMP/TYCO in Harrisonburg VA for 17 years.  He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Health Science from James Madison University.  John is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and is a Certified Hazard Materials Manager (CHMM).

 

Lara Hoke—BRSA Board Member

HR & Safety Solutions

Lara Hoke is the owner and consultant for Leadership Foundation with a passion for leadership development. Her business offers customizable cost-effective solutions for Human Resources & Safety needs. She is a facilitator of the Leadership Foundations © development program. Previously she worked as the HR & Safety Supervisor for Hollister Incorporated and before joining Hollister, she worked at RR Donnelley & Sons in Harrisonburg as the HR Supervisor. Lara is a Bridgewater College graduate and received her Master’s Degree in Adult Education and Human Resources Development from James Madison University. Lara is a founding member of the Blue Ridge Safety Association. She lives in Waynesboro with her husband, Jeff and her daughter, Riley.

Linda Gail Johnson, RN, BSN, MPH, COHN-S —BRSA Board Member

Currently serving as a BRSA Board Member. Served as System Director for Employee
Health Services in Kentucky for 2 years, Director of Community and Corporate Health
for a non-profit health system's community and corporate health program for 22
years, Executive Director of a non-profit community health system's reverse
foundation for 8 years, and Director of a community-wide health initiative called
WOW (Working on Wellness) for 10 years. Linda is also served as an independent
consultant providing health and safety leadership to local employers, including
manufacturing facilities, construction companies, and government agencies ad was a
partner in a nurse-owned occupational health services business. Linda was also a
Nursing Supervisor, Critical Care Staff Nurse, Public Health Nurse, and adjunct
faculty at Blue Ridge Community College. Linda earned her B.S. in Nursing from
Eastern Mennonite University and Master of Public Health Degree--Public Health
Leadership/Occupational Health from the University North Carolina.

 

Kristin Isenhart—BRSA Board Member

Kristin Isenhart has worked at Advantage Physical Therapy (A Drayer Physical Therapy Institute) since 2011 and is now the Director of Industrial Rehabilitation for the WoRx -Work and Industry Services Program for VA and MD. Her role includes oversight and management of the workers’ compensation programming in the clinics as well as development of many on-site programs including Job Demand Analysis’ for the development of functional ADA approved Job Descriptions, Post Offer Employment Test development, Ergonomic Assessments, and Early Symptom Identification programs. Kristin is a Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist and graduate of James Madison University with a BS in Health Sciences-Health Assessment and Promotion. Kristin is originally from Virginia Beach and played competitive soccer for 17 years which lead to a scholarship to play at JMU. She previously served as an EMT and Firefighter for Rockingham County. Currently she is a member of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce board and has her OSHA 10 certification. Kristin loves the small community atmosphere, enjoys volunteering at the Salvation Army, and especially values spending time with her husband, David, daughter Kloey, and new son Gunnar.
